What is Security?

Have you ever noticed how the world is fighting for security?
Every one's doing it!

Just think about it, a secure paying job, safer cars, the tons of recalls on all sorts of products, home security systems, walls on our borders, been to the airport lately?
So much focus is being placed on "Being" and "Feeling" safe, these days; but honestly, what is security?
Is it being out of harm's way? If so, are we ever truly at that place? An illusion is honestly all that security could be defined as if that were so. Even in our homes we are constantly faced with dangers that lurk, seemingly "Around every corner."
So, what is security? Is it a condition we can exist in; or is it purely a state of mind? I leave it to you to decide. Leave your imput and let's see how deep this can go.

  1. I guess its knowing that we are safe, indefinitely. Everyone wants to feel that way, right? :) remember the days when we didn't have airport security and could just hop on the plane? I miss that.

  2. To me, security is not a matter of conditions but rather an acceptance of the unknown. Yes it is somewhat about protection; but I strongly feel that it is more so about confidence in tomorrow, in the sense that no matter what happens now, it cannot steal the lasting truths we base our beliefs upon. I know that no matter what may come of this life, though my body fails and my resources run out, my tommorow(my eternity) will out shine any darkness known here. That is security for me.
